Stop safety glass fogging when wearing a dust mask
To deflect your breath downward, away from your glasses, tape your dust mask to your face with a strip of 2" wide surgical tape. Attach 1-5/8" of the tape to the top half of the mask, leaving a 3/8" wide strip to contact your face.

Presentation & Demo on Steam Bending of Wood by Roy Mitton   11 March 2008
Click to Review
Using a homemade steam box of six inch PVC pipe and an electric kettle Roy Mitton showed how you can bend a six foot long piece of 1"x2" white oak into a semi circle. The steaming process took 1 1/4 hours . The wood was then quickly removed from the steam box and then one end was fastened to a pre made form and then it was surprisingly easy to bend it around into a semi circular shape. It was then held in place with clamps for about one hour until it cooled sufficiently so that it would retain its shape when the clamps were removed. This took about one hour and the picture above shows Roy Mitton holding the bent wood above his bending form.
